| How
much will it cost me to send my pet overseas by air? The main cost for sending your pet overseas is based on how much space we have to reserve on the aircraft for the travel kennel, plus other items. The travel kennel is based on the actual size of your pet. The box must be large enough to allow your pet to stand up, sit down, and turn around in comfort.(See our "How to measure your pet" form) Where in the aircraft does my pet travel? Your pet travels in a hold that is heated and air conditioned. The hold position is dependant on the type aircraft in use. Should I sedate my pet prior to travel by air? All veterinary information on this subject advises against any type of sedation being administered. Sedation can create all sorts of health problems in your pet. Therefore please do NOT sedate your pet prior to departure. Are their any fees payable on arrival at the airport of destination? All countries have their own rules covering charges on arrival. Ladyhaye will give guidance on this subject. As a rule import fees are not payable on arrival into EU countries. This does not include the Canary Islands, where special conditions apply. Can my pet travel in the aircraft cabin with me? 99.9% of airlines will not allow pets to travel in the aircraft cabin. There are a few exceptions. Can my pet be fed or watered during the flight? Due to rules covering food stuffs, pets cannot travel with any food in their travel box. All our travel boxes are fitted with water dishes that allow the pets to take a drink of water during the flight. On longhaul journeys the water dishes are replenished en route by the Airline's crew. Can I visit my pet when the aircraft is in the air? The only way into the hold is while the aircraft is on the ground. Can I place blankets or toys in the travel box? The travel box must have as much absorbent material as possible. Therefore it is not a good idea to simply put a blanket in the box. A much better idea is to let your pet travel with a sweat shirt, or a small item of clothing that smells of home. Toys, or chew type products should not be given, as your pet is travelling in an unsupervised part of the aircraft. How soon prior to departure of the flight does my pet have to be at the airport? Delivery of your pet into the departure airport is dependant upon the actual airline of choice. However an average time is about 4 hours prior to departure. |
